Frequently Asked Questions

WHICH BLANKET IS RIGHT FOR ME?

The general guide is to choose a blanket that's 8 to 12 percent of your body weight. If you fall in the middle of the range, there are a few factors to consider. Choose the 15lb if you usually sleep on your side, or have joint pain, especially in your knees, hips, or back. Choose the 20lb weight if you are a healthy adult who usually sleeps on their front or back.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN MY WEIGHTED BLANKET?

Our weighted blankets are safe for the washing machine and dryer. We recommend using cold water on the gentle cycle with whites only, and drying on low heat. The blankets will dry surprisingly quickly, so they don't need a long dryer cycle. For best results do not dry clean or iron.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OEKO-TEX AND ORGANIC CERTIFICATION?

Organic certification addresses how the raw materials for a fabric are grown. Oeko-Tex certification is an indication of how the fabric is processed, including things like dyes and finishes. Oeko-Tex textiles and fabrics are free of harmful chemicals and safe for human use.

Organic certification means that textile and fabric products are grown according to strict guidelines on the use of petroleum based fertilizers, pesticides, and synthetic products.

To attain Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, the fabric has been tested and certified to be free from more than 100 substances known to be harmful to human health. The certification is voluntary, must be updated annually, and is conducted by independent third party laboratories. Oeko-Tex is a global standard measured the same way across all countries.

Baloo blankets do contain a thin layer of polyester batting, this is in place to secure the weighted glass microbeads and keep them from pooling within the blanket.
